About Us
Midschool founders Grant Burgess and Jeff McCall established Midschool to teach music production of all kinds to students. In addition to their professional work in hip hop, dance, and commercial work, Burgess and McCall have experience in and a passion for sharing the art of music production–from hip hop to pop to folk to electronic–with their community. Midschool’s classes started as community education courses at Mount Hood Community College and have been fine tuned to cater to small classes, eclectic equipment, and diverse musical interests.
Burgess and McCall have been producing music both individually and collaboratively for 20+ years each. Their professional work as the production duo Widowmaker has seen numerous vinyl releases, plays on Eminem’s and DJ Muggs’ radio stations, and collaborations with both legendary and up-and-coming hip hop artists (Sage Francis, Slug of Atmosphere, Ayatollah, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, etc.). Grant Burgess’ solo work has been used by Dior, Audi (proof-of-concept ad), MHCC, local podcasts, and local high school dance teams.
